Who is Scarebear?

Back in 1991 I was an apprentice book binder. I can actually bind a book by hand. Not too many people can say that I guess. Whilst going to college as an apprentice I earned a nickname. Apparently if you have long hair that you don't plait, a beard and ride a motorcycle you can end up looking like a scruffy and hairy cartoon character named... Scarebear.

8 years later I discovered the world of skinning and discovered I needed a handle/username for the various skinning web sites I started to frequent. Nobody uses their real name! That just wouldn't be right. Wink Not being too original, I went with a name I'd already been given. So online I began to use the name Scarebear. I even purchased the domain scarebear.org! I still own it and use it for e-mail. Who knows... I might build a site there again one day. I'm funny like that.

These days I'm slightly more creative with my usernames on other web sites and use several names—JSun being one of them. Sometimes I'll even use my own real name to mix it up a bit Wink

So if you managed to come here looking for Scarebear's skins you've come to the right place. If you came here looking for some free tutorials that some guy named Jason Brown wrote you've also come to the right place. If you've come here from somewhere else, looking for someone or something else again... Well, I hope this is the right place too Smile

By the way, you can find out a little bit more about me in the section to the right. Gripping information! I am obviously cool.

History of webWICKED

This website has gone through several changes over the years and there are always changes to come. But let me give you a quick run-down on how we got to where we are today.

Once upon a time, there were three little websites. There was the web design portfolio site (webWICKED.com—built using HTML), the online resume site (Scarebear.org—built using PHP) and the hobby/skinning site (TwoHipDudes.com—built using ColdFusion). These sites were all useful when I was applying for jobs in the web/print design field. Over time though, I found the work I was looking for and no longer needed so many different sites of my own to showcase my work.

So the three websites became two when TwoHipDudes.com was combined with the Scarebear.org website. I was working in the design industry and no longer needed an online resume, so Scarebear.org became my hobby/skinning site (I preferred this domain to the TwoHipDudes one).

For the two years that followed I created web and print designs both for myself and for my employers. I no longer needed to have more than one site of my own to show potential clients (I had plenty of new designs to add to my portfolio). So the two become one.

And today webWICKED remains my portfolio web site. If I created it, it's on this site. Enjoy.
